For Immediate Release: Inter-Generational Governance Summit – May 4th -Oakland City Hall -12:00 -6:00p.m.

On May the 4th, the first Inter-Generational Governance Summit will take place at Oakland’s City Hall.

The purpose of this event is to promote three main school – based membership organizations in all schools and collaboration between them. These three main school based organizations are Student Government Associations, Parent Teacher Associations and Alumni Associations.

We have invited various individuals representing Student Government Associations, Parent Teacher Associations and Alumni Associations to join us in a Inter-Generational conversation about getting involved with their schools.

Since many schools do not have these organizations functioning at their schools, we hope by the end of the Inter-Generational Governance Summit, best practices are revealed to support interested students, parents, grandparents to start-up or assist establishing a Student Government Association, Parent Teacher Association or Alumni Association at their school.

Panels discussions will be from 12:00 – 5:00 p.m.

Invited organizations are: McClymonds High School Alumni Association, African -American Male Achievement, Albany High School Black Student Union, McClymonds High School Parent Teacher Association and others!
A few special guests in attendance will be : Avery Reed, State President for the California Association of Student Councils, Arvin Hariri, the past Governmental Affairs Policy Director for the California Association of Student Councils,
Khafre Jay, Founder of Hip Hop For Change, Richard Campbell, Founder ToSoilLess / Geologocal Agriculture, Kyla Johnson – Trammell , Superintendent of Oakland Unified School District.
