June is hear, which means Summer time, no school for many.

Which means school gardens will not make it through the Summer…

This website, 1stSaturdays.com promotes a monthly volunteer day strategy at school gardens to keep gardens alive and “the generations” connected to the school engaged.

“The generations” of the school are divided into the schools three main school- based membership organizations. These organizations are Student Government Associations (SGA), Parent Teacher Associations (PTA) and Alumni Associations (AA).

Our vision is these three main organizations in collaboration. A vision we call Familyhood.

1st Saturdays is a monthly step towards Familyhood to recruit new members to these school -based organizations, inform the school /community of updates, welcome local business partners, community partners, etc.

Etc, because each school’s Familyhood can do what they want.

We just promote them to come together!

So, what is Filmmakers and Farmers?

In a nutshell, every 1st Saturday of the month, volunteer in the morning at a school and show movies and network in the night.

“The volunteer in the morning at the school” we plan to launch in Sept or Oct (when school begins.

We are recruiting schools now to start 1st Saturdays at their schools in September.

“The show movies and network in the night” portion we kick off July 6th at Luka’s Lounge.
