1stSaturdays tomorrow at McClymonds High School

ATTENTION: STUDENTS – PARENTS- ALUMNI-COMMUNITY MEMBERS

With a vision of building a strong collaboration at McClymonds High School for years to come, 1stSaturdays- The Official Monthly Volunteer /Recruitment Day is scheduled to launch on November 3rd, 2018.

The collaboration we seek to build is called #Familyhood.

#Familyhood is a community development strategy that defines schools as the center for community development.
In a nutshell, #Familyhood is Student Government Association + Parent Teacher Associations + Alumni Associations.
Together these three main school based organizations work together to improve their school.

Currently, McClymonds H.S. has a leadership class but not a formal Student Government Association. Also, currently, McClymonds has parent involvement but not an official Parent Teacher Association. But yes! McClymonds has a very strong Alumni Association.

Please pass this information to as many students, parents and alumni as possible. During 1stSaturdays, we would like to hear updates from these orgs and others apart of the school. if your company is in West Oakland and has resources for students at McClymonds, please contact us. We would love to have you presence.

Special thanks to Anthony from Planting Justice for preparing the beds and volunteering his time to come out in support!
We have plans in the near future to add activities in McClymonds fab lab once renovations are complete on 1st Saturdays.

P.s. – Students come out and get some volunteer hours and meet and work together with others to improve your school and your community!
